The studio

A shop with a short list.

ORRIS started in 2019 above a bike shop in Christianshavn. We still design there. The work of making happens in rooms we can walk into.

Most of what ends up on a table is either too precious to use or too slight to keep. We design the narrow band between those: a carafe you will actually fill, a runner that can go in the wash, a board that is allowed to scar.

The range stays at eight pieces. When we add something, something else has to leave. That rule is the whole business plan.

How a piece gets here

Three passes.

01

Material

Flax, clay, oak, brass, wool, and glass. We choose things that can be repaired, washed, or oiled, and we skip finishes that hide use.

02

Making

Five workshops. We visit each of them twice a year, agree the batch, and do not redraw the object from a hotel room afterward.

03

Finish

Glazes stay matte. Brass stays bare. Linen is undyed. The first scratch is supposed to belong to you, not to the factory.

Workshops

People we can name.

Practical things

Shipping, care, returns.

When will my order ship?

Everything on the site is in stock. Orders placed on a weekday leave Copenhagen within two business days. You will get a note with the carrier when the parcel is closed.

What does shipping cost?

Complimentary over $150. Under that, shipping is $12 within the countries listed at checkout: the Nordics, much of western Europe, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada.

Do pieces vary?

Yes, a little. Speckle gathers differently on each bowl, and two mugs from the same firing will not share a rim. We do not call that a defect. If something arrives cracked or wildly unlike its photograph, write to us and we will replace it.

Can I return something?

Within 30 days, if it is unused and in the packing it arrived in. Email [email protected] and we will send a return note. Return postage is yours. We refund the object, not the original outbound shipping, unless we sent the wrong thing.

Do you sell to restaurants and shops?

Yes, in small numbers. Use the contact form and choose Wholesale. Lead time for a trade order is usually four to six weeks, because we do not keep a warehouse full of extras.
